Our commitment
Students have the right to learn without intimidation, harassment or degrading treatment. This policy covers SFK Education tuition, boosters, breaks and online or off-site behaviour affecting safety or participation. Bullying may involve repeated harm and an imbalance of power; a single serious incident still requires action.
Harm may be physical, verbal, social, discriminatory, sexual or online, including threats, exclusion, rumours, unwanted sexual comments, abusive messages or sharing private images. Do not dismiss it as banter.
Prevention and reporting
Tutors set respectful expectations, supervise transitions and breaks, challenge discriminatory language, use inclusive groupings and invite students’ feedback. Students can tell any trusted SFK adult, ask a parent/carer to help or use an accessible communication method. Adults can contact enquiries@sfkeducation.com or speak to the session lead. Safeguarding concerns go promptly to Imtiaz Patel, or Hamzah Kadiri if Imtiaz is unavailable or implicated.
No student has to confront the person causing harm or write a formal complaint. Staff must not promise secrecy. Call 999 for immediate danger or use the external routes in our safeguarding policy.
How we respond
We first protect the students affected, listen separately, record factual accounts and assess safeguarding risks. Preserve digital evidence lawfully without circulating harmful material. Suspected abuse is referred through safeguarding procedures; staff must not conduct investigative questioning. Do not use mediation for sexual violence, coercion or serious abuse.
Agree practical protection, a trusted adult and follow-up checks with affected students and families where safe. Moving or excluding the student who reported harm must not be the default response. Explain harmful conduct to the student responsible, assess support needs and apply proportionate measures under our behaviour policy. Restorative work must be safe, suitable and voluntary.
Follow-up and accountability
Communicate actions that can lawfully be shared with parents, and coordinate with schools where appropriate. Protect other students’ confidential information. Record actions, support, review dates and outcomes; check whether the behaviour has stopped and escalate continuing harm.
Imtiaz Patel oversees safeguarding responses, supported by Hamzah Kadiri as alternative contact. Staff must receive relevant induction and guidance. Concerns about our response can be raised through the complaints procedure without delaying external safeguarding reporting.
