SFK EDUCATION · POLICIES

Positive behaviour

Clear classroom expectations, support and fair responses to concerns.

Version 1.0 · Effective 13 October 2026 · Review by 13 October 2027

A safe place to learn

This policy applies to SFK Education lessons, revision sessions, breaks and related communications. Students should feel able to ask questions and make mistakes without humiliation. Tutors model respect, explain expectations clearly, recognise effort and use predictable routines.

  • Treat others respectfully and allow them to learn.
  • Follow reasonable safety and classroom instructions.
  • Use learning materials and devices responsibly.
  • Stay within designated areas and follow agreed arrival and collection arrangements.
  • Tell a trusted adult about bullying, unsafe behaviour or a concern.

Support before sanctions

Tutors consider frustration, anxiety, communication barriers, sensory overload and unmet needs. For ordinary disruption they use a calm reminder, a clear choice, redirection or a supported reset, followed by a session-lead discussion where needed. Adapt the approach to the student rather than using an automatic warning or exclusion ladder. No humiliation, collective punishment or punitive physical contact is permitted.

Where difficulties recur, involve the student and parent/carer, agree practical support and reasonable adjustments, record responsibilities and set a review point. SEND or disability must not automatically be interpreted as deliberate misconduct.

Serious incidents and immediate safety

For threats, assault, sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying or serious danger, protect students immediately and notify the session lead and DSL. Do not wait to work through warnings. Use calm de-escalation and summon help. Any physical intervention must be lawful, necessary and proportionate to prevent immediate harm, never punishment, and must be recorded and reviewed.

Imtiaz Patel is the DSL; Hamzah Kadiri is the alternative. Suspected abuse follows the safeguarding procedure, not an internal child-protection investigation.

Participation decisions and review

Early collection, a temporary restriction or exclusion may be considered where needed for safety, after looking at the evidence, support attempted and reasonable adjustments. Decisions must be individual, proportionate, recorded and explained to the family, with a route to review under the complaints policy. Maintain safe supervision until handover. Fee consequences follow the booking agreement and consumer rights, not an automatic penalty.

Keep factual incident records, protect confidentiality, inform parents where appropriate and review patterns to improve teaching and support. Session leads implement this policy with oversight from Imtiaz Patel and Hamzah Kadiri.
